Celebrating the Day of the Little Whale

In 2017 we celebrated the 15th International Day of the Baltic Harbour Porpoise – celebrated annually every third Sunday in May. Public attention to our little “Hello, little whale” video was overwhelming. The video was the winning contribution from a creative competition highlighting the plight of the critically endangered harbour porpoise in the Baltic proper. The original video was in German and was translated into all the 9 Baltic languages, as well as English. All the voice overs on the “new” videos were done by children and youth, who are native speakers in the respective language. A big thank you to everyone who leant their voice to the little whale!

On facebook the individual videos were watched up to 6,000 times, with most activity coming from Lithuania and the Russian Federation. We look forward to the next celebration of the IDBHP with you!
